Lady in the Lake
Capsule by Dave Kehr
From the Chicago Reader

Robert Montgomery's 1946 adaptation of Raymond Chandler's finest novel is a notoriously misguided experiment in subjective camera, with the camera standing in, literally, for detective Philip Marlowe, smoking cigarettes and punching hoods with mechanical insouciance.
