College Road Trip
Capsule by Andrea Gronvall
From the Chicago Reader

The comedian Sinbad once said that Hollywood seeks out original talents but then tries to make them just like everyone else. A case in point is Martin Lawrence, a notoriously vulgar and outspoken entertainer who's been neutered for mainstream consumption by his Fox sitcom and now this feeble comedy. Like Robin Williams and Steve Martin in similarly innocuous family fare, Lawrence plays well below his intelligence level as a west-suburban Chicago cop who's overly protective of his college-bound daughter (Raven-Symone). Absolutely nothing funny happens during their drive to Georgetown for an interview, even with Donny Osmond along for the ride. Roger Kumble directed. G, 83 min.
