Mickey Blue Eyes
Capsule by Lisa Alspector
From the Chicago Reader

In this flat comedy, an English fine-art auctioneer (Hugh Grant) tries to bond with his father-in-law-to-be, a New York mafioso (James Caan), and finds himself involved in crimes that become progressively more serious. Many of the gags rely on the incongruity of Grant's nervous, cultured character posing as an Italian-American stereotype, but they're subverted by his earnest relationship with his fiancee (Jeanne Tripplehorn), whose affection hardly seems worth the trouble. Kelly Makin directed a screenplay by Adam Scheinman and Robert Kuhn.
