Room at the Top
Capsule by Don Druker
From the Chicago Reader

Jack Clayton's 1959 examination of British working-class ambition stars Laurence Harvey as a young north-country man-on-the-make who reaches the management level by knocking up the factory owner's daughter, discarding his aging mistress (Simone Signoret) along the way. Still a fairly absorbing study of class antagonisms and middle-class pettiness, with good performances from Harvey and Signoret, and fine support from the always impeccable Allan Cuthbertson and Heather Sears.
