It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
Stanley Kramer strikes out again with this elephantine 1963 attempt at uproarious comedy. And with a cast like Spencer Tracy, Buddy Hackett, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Ethel Merman, Dick Shawn, Jonathan Winters, and Phil Silvers, you get some idea of just how rotten a director Kramer really is. Even Cinerama (its original format) can't expand on the poverty of comic invention. 154 min. |
